Autumn Jotblad is a dedicated student at St. Cloud State University, balancing a busy academic schedule with campus engagement. She is pursuing a double major in marketing and Spanish, along with a minor in business management.
SCSU stood out to Jotblad for several reasons, but especially its Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business or AACSB accreditation within the Herberger Business School, and the outstanding educational environment that allows students to shine.
SCSU has provided Jotblad with many opportunities to gain hands-on experience, including a sales competition as part of one of her courses. The competition allowed her to put her skills to the test in front of professionals. Jotblad took third place and was awarded a $500 scholarship.
Jotblad appreciates her professors in both the business and Spanish departments, and said they provide students with personal attention and real-world perspectives. The guidance she has received from her professors has helped her thrive in her academic career.
“Gaining outside perspectives and getting those hands-on experiences from all the professors is really cool,” she said.
Despite her busy academic schedule, Jotblad remains involved on campus, specifically with the SCSU dance team and by serving on the leadership team. Additionally, she was accepted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, an honor that reflects her dedication to her academic success and growth.
The dance team’s commitment to the #OurSCSU community is evident year-round. Although there is no true off-season for the team, they have an intense schedule, practicing and performing throughout the academic year and the summer. The team is involved in a wide range of events, from cheering on fellow athletes to participating in the campus community.
“The dance team puts in a lot of time and commitment because we hold so much pride for our university,” Jotblad said.
This year, the dance team achieved success at the UDA College Nationals, taking first place in the Game Day category and fourth place in both Jazz and Pom. Jotblad said the team’s success was made even more special due to their positive mindset and high energy going into the competition.
As a junior at St. Cloud State University, Jotblad continues to thrive in her role as a student, teammate and leader.
